Office of the Chancellor Chancellor Stuart, Dr. Richard Nicholas and TWU graduate Excellence 2010-2011

Dear Friends,

Since its founding in 1902, Texas Woman’s University has had a consistent mission: to educate professionals who impact lives at the most fundamental levels. It is a mission from which TWU has never wavered, and one that is stronger today than ever.

TWU has no medical school, no law school or school of engineering. What we do have are the professions that directly serve the needs of the citizens of Texas and the nation – nurses, occupational and physical therapists, teachers, counselors, librarians, nutritionists, school administrators, bilingual educators and others. We also educate artists who add beauty and dimension to our lives and scientists who push themselves, and us, to think beyond the accepted boundaries of knowledge.

By seeking out the latest technology and teaching tools, we have created learning environments that anticipate the workplaces of our graduates. To that end, our three campuses in Denton, Dallas and Houston have been transformed with more than $130 million invested in new and renovated facilities.

Our aspirations for the future are bold. We will continue to focus on science and mathematics as career paths for our graduates, most of whom are women and who are underrepresented in these fields. Through our excellence in the health sciences, we will educate professionals who are dedicated to wellness as a lifestyle. We also will prepare our graduates with the perspective needed to succeed in the global world, whether through trips abroad or lectures and seminars on campus.

Texas Woman’s University is a place of accomplishment – by students, faculty, alumni and staff. It has always been so, and we expect it to be so in the future.

Sincerely,

Ann Stuart, Ph.D.
