Dr. AnaLouise Keating, Professor of Women’s Studies, recently published an essay, “‘Making Face, Making Soul’: Spiritual Activism as Social Transformation,” in an edited collection, Feminist Solidarity at the Crossroads: Intersectional Women's Studies For Transracial Alliance (Routledge, 2011).

Dr. Danielle Phillips publishes "Who Wants To Be an 'English' Mother?"
Women's Studies Assistant Professor, Danielle Phillips, recently published an article entitled "Who Wants To Be an 'English' Mother? Irish and southern African American Domestic Workers in New York, 1865-1935." It was published by the Journal of the Motherhood Initiative, Demeter Press in Volume 2, Issue 1. This particular volume of the jornal is entitled "Mothering and the Environment: The Natural, The Social, The Built".
Welcome to Our New Faculty Members
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Agatha Beins and Dr. Danielle Phillips as Assistant Professors
of Women's Studies for Fall 2011! Dr. Beins, who is a coeditor of the anthology Women's Studies for the Future, received her Ph.D. in Women's and Gender Studies from Rugters in May. Her dissertation explores the production and consumption of U.S. feminist periodicals published in the 1970s. Dr. Phillips, who has worked as an intern at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, completed her Ph.D. in Women’s and Gender Studies from Rutgers in October 2010. Her dissertation examines Irish and African American domestic workers in New York from 1880 to 1940.

Congratulations to Dr. Linda Marshall, Associate Professor of Social Work who received The Humphries Award for Dedication to TWU and to Dr. Penny Hanstein, Professor of Dance, who received The Cornaro Award, the highest award given to a TWU professor.

Dr. AnaLouise Keating keynote speaker at Women's History Month at the University of Georgia
Dr. AnaLouise Keating, Professor of Women’s Studies, will be the keynote Women’s History Month speaker at the University of Georgia on March 23. Her talk is titled "From This Bridge Called My Back to this bridge we call home, and Beyond: U.S. Women of Colors’ Radical Visions for Transformation.
Women's Studies Affiliate Faculty Member, Dr. Gina Anderson, receives Dr. G. Ann Uhlir Endowed Fellowship
Dr. Gina Anderson, Associate Professor in Teacher Education and Women's Studies affiliate faculty member, recently was awarded the Dr. G. Ann Uhlir Endowed Fellowship for Higher Education Administration. She will use the Fellowship to attend the Power Pipeline Conference, a leadership program sponsored by The Foundation for Women's Resources, in Dallas in April.
